Welcome

Maxwell Elementary School is nestled in the northern part of the Hempfield Area School District just off Old Route 66.  Built in 1952,  Maxwell was most recently renovated in 2000.  Our school offers a full size library, gymnasium, cafeteria and technology lab.   In addition, its rooms are bright and colorful, welcoming students to a comfortable learning environment.  Maxwell is a single level school with central air conditioning.  

Maxwell Elementary has approximately 420 students, Grades K through 5 housing three classrooms in each grade.  We offer learning support and gifted services to students who qualify in grades K through 5.   In addition, we provide guidance and instructional intervention services, remedial reading, speech and language support and full time nursing.   We also provide instruction in art, music, library, physical education and technology. 

Maxwell is a Bully Free School.  We work very hard to ensure the safety and well being of all our students.  We believe that the family is an integral part of a child’s education and provide a welcoming Home/School connection.

Our before school and after school child care program is provided by the Greensburg YMCA.  You may contact the YMCA for more information.
